Sport NZ is governed by a board whose members and chairperson are appointed by the Minister for Sport and Recreation. The Sport NZ Board is responsible to the Minister for Sport and Recreation and has accountability for the functions of the Sport NZ Group. The Board is supported by the Taumata Māori who provide leadership to achieve our Te Tiriti commitments. Together with the Group leadership team, they set and guide Sport NZ’s strategic direction.
The board of directors provide governance and leadership oversight.
Te Taumata Māori provides valuable guidance at a governance level to Sport NZ Ihi Aotearoa and High-Performance Sport NZ on its commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori sport, strategy, investment and Māori outcomes.
The Group executive team sets and guides Sport NZ’s strategic direction.
